We received the following email from the Portland Police Bureau and have been asked to share this with our community:

The Portland Police Bureau is hosting two upcoming community meetings for its Strategic Planning process we would like to share with you. The purpose of the meetings is to present the draft Police Strategic Plan framework and solicit additional feedback from the community through small group discussions. Would it be possible for you to share them with your respective neighborhoods and communities in order to provide as many folks as possible the opportunity to participate?

Meeting Information: Community meeting to review the draft Strategic Plan outline and solicit community feedback through small group discussions. An agenda will be posted one week prior to the event. Foster Night Rides

There is a new community-led event that has sprouted up and is already gaining some (pardon the pun) traction. It is called Foster Night Rides and is planned to take place every other Tuesday. You can find the group on Facebook as well as Instagram.

The next ride is planned for Tuesday 21-May. Here are the details copied from the event on Facebook —

Eat, drink and socialize with your friends and neighbors on the ride of your life. Meet up at the Mercado by the Barrio at 6:30pm ride out at 7:30pm. Be kind to all other travelers, pack out what you bring in and be prepared for anything. This ride has guess leaders and usually end by 11:00pm, usually is 8 to 12 miles. Fun to medium paced.

Kellogg Middle School Groundbreaking Ceremony on Saturday 1-June

We received the following notice from Portland Public Schools —

The start of construction on a new Kellogg Middle School is only a few
weeks away. To celebrate, an upcoming groundbreaking ceremony will
take place at the site of the new school.

Kellogg Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June, 1st
PPS will celebrate the start of a new Kellogg Middle School with a
groundbreaking ceremony that takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
at 6909 SE Powell Blvd.  Speakers, local dignitaries and music will
add to the festive atmosphere.  The event also provides the public an
opportunity to meet the project team and learn more about the new
school. Kellogg will be the first entirely new school to be built in
SE Portland in many decades and will provide students and staff with a
state-of-the-art middle school facility.  Kellogg is one of the  first
major construction projects funded by the May 2017 Bond.

Kellogg Rebuild Highlights
The Kellogg site will include over 100,000 square feet of new
construction, including a performing arts stage, a multi-purpose gym
and assembly space, a large, flexible commons space, and dedicated
outdoor learning spaces. The school will be a focal point of its
Southeast Portland neighborhood, offering a new educational center and
