Foster Streetscape Project is Complete and Sad News

On Thursday 13-June, the City of Portland held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the Foster Streetscape project. Woman Killed Crossing Foster

Unfortunately, we also have some sad news to report, if you have not already heard. Later in the evening on the same day as the ribbon cutting ceremony, a neighbor, 82 year old Louanna “Lou” Battams, was struck by a driver in a car while she crossed Foster Road and later died at the hospital. Lou was crossing at SE 71st Avenue when she was struck. You can find more details in the following articles:

Please remember, as you drive about our city, look at every intersection for people crossing. EVERY intersection is a crosswalk, not just marked crosswalks. You are required, by law, to stop for people in your lane and the adjacent lane of travel. See this information on Metro’s website for an overview of the law.
