The Portland Mercado, Foster Road’s very own Latin American public marketplace at SE 72nd Ave., reported earlier today that on Sunday, October 23rd the food carts “suffered a harsh strike of vandalism”.

From the Portland Mercado website:

The total damage is estimated at $25,000, not accounting for the loss in sales for each business who cannot open due to operational challenges and inventory loss. While we are frustrated at this time, we are not giving up and we are confident that this will only make us stronger and more resilient.

The Portland Mercado is reaching out to you and your neighbors to step up and help as you are able. This includes making monetary donations, increasing your visits to the Mercado, and other acts of support which will help the Mercado recover from this devastating loss.
