2016 Foster-Powell Garden Tour Recap

The third Saturday in June was hopping in Foster Powell Neighborhood! The 9th Annual FoPo Garden Tour went off without a hitch.

From 10pm to 2pm, fifteen residences, the Foster-Powell Community Garden, Wild Lilac Kitchen Garden and the Holgate Library opened up for public perusal. Most gardens saw between 60 and 80 patrons. We estimate as many as 250 people attended some portion of the tour.

Among the features of this years tour was Tom and Rebecca’s place. Only 6 months in the neighborhood and they were already involved at the community garden and showing off their collection of carnivorous plants. Their teaching table kept folks riveted! We had some very new and DIY gardens as well as fully established urban farms and Donnie’s famous 70th Street Jungle.

We had some lovely reusable signs printed by Minuteman Press and look forward to carrying on into the 10th year, possibly bringing back the raffle and after tour party if we have enough volunteers to do so.

Look for a dedicated information tab on the community garden website as the 2017 tour date approaches.
