Kellogg Public Design Workshop
Members of the public will have a chance to offer their ideas for the new school at the Kellogg Public Design Workshop.
Date: Saturday, February 10th
Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Location: Franklin High School main lobby, 5405 SE Woodward St.
Details: Free childcare is provided and translation is available in Spanish, Somali, Cantonese Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian. A light breakfast will be available at 8:30a.m.
What to Expect
The workshop will begin with an overview of the Kellogg Master Plan and Schematic Design process and how the Design Advisory Group (DAG) helped shape the design.
The workshop will also feature interactive presentations where community members can directly engage with the design team and DAG members to learn about the building’s proposed design. The workshop also provides a unique opportunity for people to contribute their own perspective and ideas to the process. The Kellogg design team will then incorporate this public feedback into their process as they proceed into the next phase of design development.
Although the feeder path and school boundaries for the new Kellogg Middle School have not been set, all nearby communities are invited to participate in the design process.
The Design workshop will be limited to the planning and design of a new middle school and will not address the district’s separate and ongoing boundary discussions and decisions.
The current timeline for construction is from the Spring of 2019 through early 2021. The first new students are scheduled to attend Kellogg at the start of the 2021–2022 school year.
