2020 Neighborhood Cleanup

Does shattering household items provide you with a deep sense of satisfaction?

Well, now you can smash and shatter for your neighborhood! In fact, your neighborhood NEEDS you to smash and shatter…and throw and stomp and crush at the Neighborhood Cleanup!

The Mt. Scott-Arleta and Foster-Powell Neighborhood Associations will host our joint annual cleanup event on May 4th, and we need 50 volunteers to help unload cars, throw household items, and smash stuff to fit it in the bins.

Volunteer to Help at the Clean Up

If you’d rather repair, repurpose, and reuse, well, we need you too! The cleanup isn’t just about sending bins full of garbage to the dump. It’s also about finding the treasure in the trash, and volunteering means you get first pick of all of that beautiful treasure.

Volunteers also get to deliver a load of trash for FREE. We will have food available for volunteers.

Food, free stuff, and smashing for your ‘hood. Does volunteering get any better than this?

Neighborhood Cleanup Volunteer
Sign-up to volunteer for the annual Neighborhood Cleanup event held the first Saturday in May.

We mostly need volunteers to unload cars, which is physical work. However, there are a few roles that are less physical. If you’d like to volunteer but cannot do the physical work, please check the box below and we will try to provide you with a less physical role. All roles will require some amount of standing and moving around the event area.

Paint the Town Green Event

Join us on Saturday 1-June to remove graffiti and litter in Foster-Powell! We are currently seeking volunteers for this event (ages 16+ or 5-15 with an adult).

Kink.fm, Metro, City of Portland Graffiti Abatement Program, Solve, SE Uplift, and Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association invite you to help make the neighborhood even more beautiful. We’ll be cleaning up litter and graffiti in various SE neighborhoods throughout the morning and we’re looking for volunteers to join us. You don’t have to live in those neighborhoods to help clean them up! We’ll provide the supplies along with snacks AND lunch; you provide the energy.

Come meet your neighbors and grab a breakfast snack, then we’ll go and make our neighborhood more beautiful! Meetup is at 9 am at Essex Park for a safety talk and to receive clean up tools.

We will start the clean up on the north end of the neighborhood on the SE Powell and 82nd intersection. We will work in teams moving South on both sides of 82nd to remove litter and cover as much graffiti as we can. With enough volunteers, we could also have a group move west on SE Powell to make that area sparkle.

There is a meet-up at the end with lunch provided so that you can share stories of your experience with neighbors from surrounding areas.

Volunteer!
