Friends of Trees are Coming!

Friend of Trees is coming to the Foster-Powell, Creston-Kenilworth, Mt. Scott-Arleta, and Reed neighborhoods on Saturday 9-February to plant around 130 trees. You can support this project by volunteering. They are in particular need of Tree Planter and Truck Driver volunteers. This is a fantastic opportunity to help bring more beauty to our neighborhood.

What

Help plant many dozens of large-stock trees along the streets and in yards of the following SE Portland neighborhoods: Foster-Powell, Creston-Kenilworth, Mt Scott-Arleta, and Reed. Following the planting there is a warm potluck lunch for all volunteers provided by the hosting neighborhood groups — it’s a small way we say “thank you” for all your hard work!

When

Assemble by 8:45a and work will take place from 9:00a – 1:00p

Where

Kern Park Church, 6828 SE Holgate Blvd (map)
Look for the “Friends of Trees” signs as you get close!
Reminder: be there by 8:45a!

Around the World in 82 Dishes

Get your eat on, Portland!

Grab your passport and take the food tour of a lifetime. From Saturday 12- to Sunday 21-October, you can sample delicious dishes and drinks (for just $5!!!) from across the globe at restaurants on Portland’s most diverse street – SE 82nd Avenue.

Hungry yet?

Sample German spaetzle, Mexican seafood, Japanese crepes, Thai noodles, Vietnamese soup, Fijian curry or other delicious dishes and drinks! Collect Passport stickers as you sample and earn the chance to win a gift card for $25, $50 or $100.

Here’s how it works:

Participating restaurants (and a couple non-restaurants) will be offering $5 specials during the 9-day promotion. Customers use a passport (supplied at all participating businesses) to collect stickers as they sample food at the various stops along the way. One sticker is earned for purchasing a $5 special; an additional sticker can be earned by buying something else from the regular menu. The more stickers one collects, the more you can win in prizes. Returned passports will be used to raffle off gift certificates at the end of the promotion.

National Night Out was a big success!

  • Post category:Events

Thank you to the Foster-Powell community for a wonderfully successful National Night Out event! Our rough estimate is that we had around 250 FoPo neighbors in attendance.

Thank you to the organizations that had tables at the event and shared information about their offerings and provided gifts to the community.

We hope you saw the information about the upcoming mural in Essex Park.

Your Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association is 100% volunteer run! We are your neighbors and we happily give our time to events like this and other neighborhood/community building activities. Please join us at our monthly meetings on the 2nd Monday of every month (except no meeting in August). We are always looking for people to jump in and help out with projects. Make sure your voice and, more importantly, your time and effort are contributing to your community.

Thanks again for making 2018’s National Night Out event such a success!
