Foster-Powell Soirée Was a Hit!

  • Post category:Events

Our monthly meetings tend to be a lot of business and not a lot of socializing. So we decided to through a party as a way for neighbors to meet each other and interact in a fun, light-hearted setting. Here are some photos from the Foster-Powell Soirée, which was held on 18-April. Many thanks to Thunderbird Bar for providing the space and for discounts on the delicious food provided during the event by your Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association.

New Coffee Shop Coming to Foster Road

Have you noticed the work being done on the former Blake’s Decorette building at 5338 SE Foster Rd (map)?

We communicated with the owner of the building, Jonathan Hooker, to get the scoop.

Yes, there is a coffee shop going in. I don’t want to talk too many details about the shop just yet as things are still getting completely ironed out but we’ve been working on it since last summer and coffee shop is on our permit, set so it’s 100% happening.

Other than the coffee shop, which will be in the downstairs corner, we’ll be utilizing the rest of the building as the office for my business, Oblio.

Jonathan Hooker, owner

The architecture firm is Wright Architecture. Jonathan provided a link to the design. Note: the color scheme shown is not final.

We’re excited to welcome the new coffee shop and Oblio to the neighborhood!

Paint the Town Green Event

Join us on Saturday 1-June to remove graffiti and litter in Foster-Powell! We are currently seeking volunteers for this event (ages 16+ or 5-15 with an adult).

Kink.fm, Metro, City of Portland Graffiti Abatement Program, Solve, SE Uplift, and Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association invite you to help make the neighborhood even more beautiful. We’ll be cleaning up litter and graffiti in various SE neighborhoods throughout the morning and we’re looking for volunteers to join us. You don’t have to live in those neighborhoods to help clean them up! We’ll provide the supplies along with snacks AND lunch; you provide the energy.

Come meet your neighbors and grab a breakfast snack, then we’ll go and make our neighborhood more beautiful! Meetup is at 9 am at Essex Park for a safety talk and to receive clean up tools.

We will start the clean up on the north end of the neighborhood on the SE Powell and 82nd intersection. We will work in teams moving South on both sides of 82nd to remove litter and cover as much graffiti as we can. With enough volunteers, we could also have a group move west on SE Powell to make that area sparkle.

There is a meet-up at the end with lunch provided so that you can share stories of your experience with neighbors from surrounding areas.

Volunteer!
